This year’s American Music Awards winners were picked by fans voting online at ABC.com, which as expected landed most of the major awards in the hands of the teen-idols-of-the-moment. Entourage is being DVR’ed and I have nothing better to do, so here are some interesting observations and highlights from this year’s AMA, or “Junior Prom” as it should be called…

Taylor Swift gives a haunting performance at the American Music Awards. Her song no doubt inspired by her break up with Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers (I wonder how he feels sitting in the front row when his ex-girlfriend sing to the world about what a jerk he was, hmm…) Later Taylor went on winning the favorite female Country artist over Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire.

Jonas Brothers on the other hand gave an awful performance at the show, Joe Jonas was off key, the trio looked like pre-schoolers rocking on guitar-hero gaming system. Although the fans did vote them the winner of the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist award.

NeYo performs at the 2008 American Music Awards, and shows off the coolest move out of all performers all night – he kicks over the mic stand, just as it almost hits the floor he steps on the base and spins the stand 360 degrees under his feet and pops it back up – HOT!

Alicia Keys (WireImage)

Alicia Keys hands downs had the best fashion sense at the show. She had the most stunning India-inspired blue dress and diamond head piece. She also won Favorite Pop/Rock album and Favorite Soul/R&B album.

Kanye West (WireImage)

Kanye West on the other hand, had the worst fashion sense. I mean hello? Didn’t anyone tell him that this is a Black Tie Formal affair?? That track jacket might be ok if he’s shooting a cartoon version of Star Trek, but to an awards ceremony? Host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Kanye’s “modesty” at the show. Kanye West did win a couple awards but strangely declared on stage that he wants to give it away to Lil Wayne… I wonder if Lil Wayne is amused or just embarrassed.

Mariah Carey (WireImage)

Mariah Carey had a big night, winning awards for breaking Elvis’ record of most #1 singles on the charts ever! And also breaking the record of # of weeks as #1 on the charts for a female artist. Although she did demand private jets and presidential accommodations just to fly in to accept the awards, but she’s a Diva, what can I say?! Go Mariah!

The American Music Awards is broadcasting live right now and guess what I find? The official ABC website for the show is listing the wrong winner for Favorite Female artist in Soul/R&B! Rihanna just won live on TV and the website is listing Mary J. Blige as the winner! Conspiracy or incompetent web producer?? hmmm…

In a very tragic story, a dead woman has found just outside American Idol judge Paula Abdul‘s house. The woman has been identified as Paula Goodspeed, who appeared in the audition segment of Season 5 of American Idol, and described herself as an artist and the first pic she ever drew was of Paula Abdul… kinda creepy.

Apparently the woman has stalked Paula Abdul numerous times, and her body was found inside a car just outside Paula’s L.A. home. Police believe it might be caused by a drug overdose.

In one of the most bizzare and pathetic turn of events, it turns out that the nude pics of Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon that was leaked onto the internet of two days ago was part of a PR stunt!!

So apparently this is the brilliant idea of Hollywood publicist retard Jonathan Jaxson, who thought this would help develop a more sexy/mature image for her. Adrienne’s future sister-in-law Kim Kardashian supposedly not only encouraged the little Disney poptart, but also went as far as picking out the bra in the photos and teaching her how to pose! Shocking, I know! Coming from the girl famous for her sex tape with Brandy’s brother R&B singer Ray J.

If I was Disney, I’d probably bitch slap both Adrienne and Jonathan. Bad career move Adrienne. Stop listening to these retard Hollywood agents/publicists, all they know (and I quote Ari Gold from Entourage) is how to “get their agency card laminated so they can fuck Mischa Barton at Shelter“.

Brad Pitt is just not having a great day. When he arrived at the Bruin Theatre in LA for the premiere of his new movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, paparazzi broke through the security barrier and got up and personal. The more bizarre part is instead of controlling the paparazzi, one of the security guards hired by the theatre grabbed and restrained Brad!!

A picture is worth a thousand words. What is that thing that the security guard is clutching between his teeth??

Poor Brad, first Jennifer Aniston was quoted saying “What Angelina did was very uncool” in an interview with Vogue, now this. It’s just not your week!

Mark Ronson, producer buddy of Amy Winehouse is fed up with the singer’s irrational behavior. According to UK newspaper, The Sun, the two were in the process of making the theme song for the new 007 movie, Quantum of Solace, which hits theaters this fall.

Ronson decided that due to Wino’s latest issues of hubby Blake’s unfortunate incarceration, drug use and unsafe behavior towards herself and others that the star is in no shape to sing. Running around in your underwear is not normal behavior? Strange.

Friends of Wino fear that this just may be the straw that breaks the camels back. Ronson and Wino have been good friends for a long time and with a decision like this, Winehouse may become even more unstable. If that’s possible.

Don’t you hate when you have that one really bad picture that just keeps popping up everywhere? Lindsay Lohan can relate. That poor girl’s mug shot has been splashed over countless internet sites worldwide and now appears in an ad from the liquor industry put in USA TODAY magazine. The ad is for ignition interlocks with a picture of Lohan’s big ol’ mug right under it saying they are a good idea for her, but not a good idea for us. The “us” are regular people casually (and I use that term loosely) drinking.
Lindsay is fighting back though. Her lawyer has already issued a statement to TMZ saying that the ad suggests drinking and driving is an American tradition we should protect and by not stating that the ad is paid for by the liquor industry, is to put it bluntly, shady. Lohan is also looking to see if she can sue for her image being used for commercial gain without consent.

I am very against drunk driving, as we all should be, and in no way do I condone what Lindsay Lohan does behind the wheel but good for her for taking a stand! This may be one battle she can win.

Is it just me or am I the only person who didn’t even realize Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey were dating let alone getting hitched? I feel like I blinked my eyes and this huge rock appeared on her finger. According to Latina magazine the couple wed in Carey’s newly purchased home in Eleuthera, The Bahamas yesterday after only dating for two months.

Thankfully, rumors that Carey’s rock was a sloppy second ring from Cannon’s previous fianceé, Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks are false according to People magazine. No one wants to wear someone else’s engagement ring, talk about bad karma! The wedding was so impulsive, the two did not have time to sign a pre-nup. Who knows what problems that may cause in the future but for now I suppose congrats are in order for the newlyweds!
